Our Mission

BioMaps is an independent and open platform for nature, the environment, and social dialogue.

We aim to connect people, initiatives, organizations, the scientific community, local governments, and other projects to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and jointly develop solutions for protecting our natural resources.

BioMaps does not see itself as representing individual interests, but rather as a platform for objective, transparent, and fact-based dialogue.

Our goal is to present information in an understandable way, make scientific findings accessible, and give citizens the opportunity to actively participate in discussions and decision-making processes.

Topics may begin at the regional level—such as the protection of the Theißtal natural area—but can also address other projects and issues from across Germany or beyond. Any initiative committed to nature, biodiversity, water, climate, or sustainable development is invited to become part of BioMaps.

We are convinced that sustainable decisions can only succeed when different perspectives are heard, facts are presented transparently, and solutions are developed collaboratively.

Together, not against each other

BioMaps aims to bring people together in dialogue—regardless of political views, organizations, or institutions.

Our platform is open to anyone who wants to contribute constructively:

  • citizen initiatives,
  • clubs and associations,
  • scientific institutions,
  • local governments and public agencies,
  • schools and educational institutions,
  • companies with sustainable projects,
  • as well as all interested citizens.

Together, we can gather information, present projects, share experiences, and further develop ideas.

Open Participation

BioMaps thrives on the participation of many people.

Therefore, positions, recommendations, and demands should not be dictated by individuals but should emerge collectively. Ideas can be proposed, discussed, expanded upon, and evaluated. The goal is to develop viable solutions based on the broadest possible consensus.

The platform sees itself as a tool for participation, transparency, and collaboration.

Taking Responsibility Together

Our natural resources are the foundation of our lives. Forests, water bodies, soils, and biodiversity fulfill functions that cannot be replaced in the short term.

Protecting them is a shared responsibility—regardless of political or social interests.

With BioMaps, we aim to pool knowledge, connect people, and foster dialogue. Because only together can we develop solutions that harmonize nature, the climate, and human needs.

BioMaps is open to all projects that work respectfully, objectively, and constructively to preserve our natural resources.
